In 2014, TABPHE Corpus Christi held its first "Taste of Soul - Black History Month Festival"at Del Mar College. The festival included soul food, local acts, church groups, community organizations and vendors. Proceeds from this event were geared towards taking students to the the TABPHE State Conference in San Antonio, Texas. Besides local acts, TABPHE Corpus Christi was also able to secure a live band out of Houston, Texas - the Bayou City Brass Band (formerly known as the Texas Brass Band).
