2016 LRJ Leadership Series Camp

On Saturday, October 15th at Del Mar College, the members of the Texas Association of Black Personnel in Higher Education Corpus Christi Chapter and the City of Corpus Christi Parks & Recreation Department co-hosted their 5th youth leadership camp. Breakfast and lunch was provided. This event was free and open to youth between the ages of 6 and 18 years old.

Boys to Men-Manning Up and Girls Stepping in the Right Direction  programs are designed to assist at-risk young boys and girls in the community with Character Development, Leadership, Education and Healthy Living. These camps helped the youth discover who they are, how choices they make today can affect them tomorrow and may impact their future, and show them how hard work pays off.

Youth heard from local mentors, agencies and community workers on various topics. Judge Joe Benavides served as the lunch keynote speaker and LaTanya Simpson was the keynote speaker for the closing general session.
